A chest x-ray is an imaging technique used to diagnose disease or trauma. The image is obtained by electromagnetic radiation and allows the heart, lungs and rib cage to be analysed. This analysis makes it possible to rule out or identify a heart attack or decompensation, a lung infection or a pneumothorax. The image quality depends on the patient's position, the orientation of the plate and the light contrasts.

The x-ray machine consists of an articulated arm with an x-ray tube and a plate containing the film.

Before the examination, the patient will go to the cloakroom to undress.
During the examination, the patient will be between the x-ray tube and the plate containing the film, with the chest against the plate and the arms raised. While taking the pictures, inflate the lungs and block breathing. Two shots will be taken: one from the front and the other from the side.
The examination lasts between 10 and 20 minutes. It is a very quick exam.
The radiologist will give you a first comment. It is a totally painless test.
